This pair of solid bronze supports allows you to make a wooden-bar cleat in keeping with traditional deck hardware. Insert an oval-section wooden bar measuring 40 × 20 mm (not supplied) through both supports to belay a mooring line or running rigging, while also providing a handhold when moving around on board.
Each support has a rectangular base plate with four fixing holes. Their spacing can be adjusted to the bar length and chosen location, using fixings sized for the loads involved.
Ideal for fitting out and restoring classic sailing yachts and traditional boats, preserving the appearance of period handrail-style cleats.
Sold as a pair.

| Reference | Bar dimensions (A) | Base plate dimensions (BxC) | Height (D) | Hole centres | Screw diameter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1099/BR | 40 x 20 mm | 71 x 39 mm | 68 mm | 50 mm and 23 mm | 5 mm |
To secure this cleat, you can use either bronze wood screws or bronze machine screws with matching nuts and washers.
For outdoor applications, we recommend using bronze fixings or, where appropriate, stainless steel fixings rather than mixing bronze and brass fittings on wood.
These bronze fittings can be supplied with a chrome-plated finish upon request, with a lead time of approximately 3 weeks.
These cleat fittings are handcrafted using century-old moulds, a traditional manufacturing process that may result in slight variations in the bronze. These characteristics give each piece its own unique character and authenticity.
Solid bronze offers excellent resistance to weathering and marine conditions, preserving the quality and integrity of the material over time.
