This solid bronze sheet fairlead has the form of an arched strap, designed to keep a sheet or control line on its intended lead along the deck. Its closed passage holds the line close to the surface and limits side movement during manoeuvres.

Unlike a raised horizontal fairlead, this model is fixed flush to the deck by two mounting legs. Its low profile suits installations where a rope needs to be guided without adding significant height. As it has no sheave, it should be positioned in line with the rope run to reduce friction.

Designed for a 12 mm rope, this small piece of deck hardware is particularly suitable for fitting out and restoring classic boats.

Frequently asked questions

1. Which fixings should I use to install this fairlead?
- Depending on the mounting surface, you can use wood screws or machine screws with matching nuts and washers for through-bolted installation. The diameter and strength of the fixings must be suitable for the fitting and expected loads.

Please note: on wooden boats, moisture and salt water can promote electrochemical reactions involving metal fittings and timber, potentially causing deterioration of the wood around the fixings.

We recommend using compatible marine-grade fixings, avoiding combinations of dissimilar metals wherever possible, and ensuring the installation is properly sealed.
2. Is this sheet fairlead available in other finishes?
- This solid bronze sheet fairlead can be supplied with a chrome-plated finish upon request, with a lead time of approximately 3 weeks.
3. Can this fairlead be made to measure?
- This bronze sheet fairlead cannot be made to measure.

Good to know

This sheet fairlead is handcrafted using century-old moulds, which may result in slight variations in the bronze. These characteristics give each piece its own distinctive character and authenticity.

Solid bronze offers excellent resistance to weathering and marine conditions, helping preserve the quality and integrity of the material over time.
